GDPR: Get your data from the UK Branch now, before 25-May-2018
by Fay Dehr inget your data from the uk branch now, before gdpr kicks in on 25-may-2018.
use this free template letter, which has been tried and tested.
under uk law they can (and will) delay their reply if you miss out any of the important points in the template letter - for example they are allowed to ask for "costs" from you (£10 is an established fee in the data industry), or if you fail to prove your identity by means of passport or driver's license.

Purrpurr
What if you began your letter with a sentence along the lines of "one of our congregation elders has encouraged me to make this request from you."
This way pimo people would appear to be acting on a request from within the congregation and not off their own bat.

JW's Blow Their Own Trumpet Each Month
by The Fall Guy inw06 12/1 p. 27 par.
11 what it means to love our neighbor - “jesus commissioned his followers to preach and to teach and to “make disciples of people of all the nations.” by our participation in this work, we show love for......... neighbor.”.
by recording the number of hours of “love” shown to neighbours each month in their monthly report slip, aren't jw's in reality doing what christ said not to do?.

I always thought that you would be a good Christian 24/7. I could never understand reports.
We used to have an opinionated pioneer sister who insisted that her pioneer school said that they could count time for doing good works. So she'd help older people across the road, buy groceries for her elderly neighbours and then report it as witnessing because she always told the people she helped that is what she was. Hours easily got.
The one that I used to point out was that a parent who studied with the children could count 1 hour, 1 study, and 1 return visit. The question box in the Kingdom Ministry of the time in fact said that was what could be reported EVEN THOUGH it was recognised that parents spent many more hours teaching the truth to their children. So why limit it on a paper report? The whole thing is plain nuts.
I still reckon most people just make it up at the end of the month rather than be classed inactive. In fact, some nights there would be an announcement from the platform that all reports had to be in that night to meet the date for mailing - and publishers would lift the report slip and from memory fill in their month's details. From memory! Hahaha. Can you remember what you were doing 30 or 31 days ago and every day since? 🤔 😂

It's interesting that you have listed some things that I was thinking about recently.
The usual claim by the witnesses is that everything they believe is Bible-based. I used to think that it was so, and told people that it was so.
Then you start thinking, where in the Bible are month end field service reports? Where does it say that your church is called a Kingdom Hall? Where does it say that you shouldn't take the memorial emblems? And once you start pulling on that little thread then the whole garment starts to unravel...
The sad fact is that the GB know it otherwise they would have called their book What The Bible Teaches, and not inserted the word Really into the title. Because it implies that JWs have been shown a secret Bible hidden away from the rest of the world. And everyone gets curious about secrets and want to know more. And then they get caught up with the organisation.
I have always, even when I was an elder in the sad old days, had a personal library of books by other religious groups and organisations. Everything from Thomas Merton to the Dalai Lama. My mind is always open to fresh ideas. And as I had to attend the funerals of my staff on behalf of the management team I got to go to many different churches and hear the services. Whereas the average JW wouldn't go into a church even if it was a fine architectural building. Guess it all contributed to my waking up.

About 3 years ago we had a CO and an elder turn up unexpectedly on our doorstep. "We just thought we'd give you a shepherding call when we are in the area," said the elder.
So I said directly to the CO that I understood shepherding calls had to be scheduled with the individuals in advance. He agreed. I said so why hadn't they done it. Still, said the elder, since they were here maybe they could just step inside anyway.
To that I said no. It didn't suit as we were busy. But I hoped they'd have more success on their next call. After looking one to the other, they turned away and left.
That is the last time a CO plus elder has come back to our house, even when we see through the window that they are visiting other JWs who live very close by us.

Spot the signs of a toxic leadership.
by Lost in the fog ini came across this article in the magazine psychology today.
it is about the traits of poor leaders in the field of employment although you could easily think it had been written about the gb.

But it's alright if we do it.
by Lost in the fog inwe were talking with a friend who is in a different area and they mentioned that their present kingdom hall building used to be a church before the brothers bought it cheaply and renovated it.
"of course," john then said, "it'll be dedicated to jehovah after all the work is done so even if everyone in the community still call it the old church, we'll know it is jehovah’s place of worship.
hadn't consciously thought about it until now, but isn't it hypocrisy to (re)dedicate a church and it becomes ok for the witnesses to use.

Hadn't consciously thought about it until now, but isn't it hypocrisy to (re)dedicate a church and it becomes OK for the witnesses to use. When the same witnesses condemn Christendom for (re)dedicating pagan celebrations into the church such as the sun god to the Son God, and Christmas etc. Surely it is exactly the same principle.
Of course it is alright if "we" do it, but totally wrong if any other church group does it. Typical spin doctors.

UK Newspaper Investigation, Your Stories Requested
by Slidin Fast inthe guardian, no less, is asking for stories of abuse at the hands of jws.
they seem to be doing a serious investigation, you can tell your story anonymously, on the record or in any combination to suit you.
this may be the start of a real spotlight on dubdom.

I was just reading the Guardian article on this. It is interesting that constituents' Members of Parliament are also asking about the inquiry taking place. About time someone scrutinised and called the JC elders to personal account.

How many are PIMO ??
by Phizzy ini know we cannot answer this, how many are physically in, mentally out (pimo), but i heard an amazing piece of news the other day.. an ex-p.o and ex-elder, a long time regular pioneer, and when i knew him a stalwart believer, went for a drink with another jw who has actually left, but is not df or anything.. in the course of conversation he came out with this bombshell "well, i am actually an atheist now, i just go along to keep my wife happy".. i also heard of a number of youngsters that i know personally who are simply living their life as they want, whilst making sure they don't get df'd for family and social reasons.. if as it seems the pimo's are a huge number, could there be a huge " awakening" where they all realize they are in a huge group, and they all say " eff it, lets call it a day on all the jw s**t ".
?.
wishful thinking, but.....just possible ?.
